Falling apart at the seams

I seem to have accidentally rediscovered the pleasure of making things. This past week, I've been working on knitting projects I haven't picked up in well over three years: one of them I started about 11 years ago!

I've ordered a couple of books, and had a good experience with a dress I made (sewed, not knitted darling) at a wedding last weekend. A stranger told me my dress was gorgeous - v. morale-boosting.

It seems too I had quite forgotten about the pleasure of lying in bed with some chocs and some magazines and a book, something like In Pursuit of Love.

India Knight, I am humbled.

Meathead

knitting patterns: meathead hat patterns, kits & cow tags

Mr Raitte and I traipsed up to Regent Street today, and while we were there I dashed into John Lewis to buy an equivalent wool to knit two gorgeous Meathead hats today. They will make most excellent presents for someone.

Also dying to knit something or other for cousin Cordelia's baby, arriving January. Too many choices. I expect a knitted rabbit toy because having made one before I know how sweet they are. I'd like to make a v. 'retro' (ie trad) lacy bonnet but don't know that's quite Cordelia's style.

Dear Father Christmas

If I have been good enough this Christmas I would like any of the following...

This to use as a coal scuttle
A paper potter
A purple tartan blanket from Boden
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
A decent fountain pen
A Moleskine notebook
Violet and Rose creams
Apres l'Ondée by Guerlain
Extra tough gardening gloves
Socks
A leather bound address book
Tickets to see the new Mary Poppins (or Theatre Token)
This vegan stole knitting kit
A feather pillow
Silk pyjamas (the green ones)
A tartan blanket

Thank you very very much.

Terraria

terraria.jpg
The front room, occassionally know as 'the dining room', had needed a bit of a shake up for a while. Two large bookcases meant I could clear out the back bedroom (also knows as 'the junk room', 'the spare room') somewhat. Clotilde, the dress form looks good in there, and the curtains, while far more twee than my usual taste, look wonderful with the drab walls.

Fung shui states this area is our wealth enrichment, and it need light and life. So I finally got around to planting up these two little terraria. I found them at a car boot sale AT LEAST four years ago, they've been sitting around gathering dust since then, but I'm delighted to say they look charming planted up. With my glass candlesticks, who could ask for more light and life.

Now I just have to sit tight and wait for the difference to show up in our bank balance.
