Is this heaven?

Six hundred grams of Hip Knits silk in 'Peace'. It's unusual to work with - I had to change the way I hold the yarn because it wasn't 'sliding' around my little finger. It has a squeaky quality, like cotton. The shine is amazing - it's reflective, the yarn seems to change colour depending on what other colours it's near. This is going to be something very special indeed. Looking out of the window at the garden as I knit with it, I can see the same colour in the lavender, the echinops, the verbena... it's been raining today at last, and the garden looks reinvigorated.

Speaking of flora, my Limeleaf Kiri is finally finished. Here she is reclining on her favourite pink velvet buttoned chair.

Limeleaf, started 23 June 05 finished 24 July 05
Pattern: Polly's Kiri
Yarn: Sirdar 'Calypso' 100% cotton DK

Look at those leafy leaves.

It's still grey out and there is banana bread in the oven. This evening I hope to finish Claude, the cotton-angora confection. Pictures tomorrow I hope.

Hey Anna,

What are you making with the Hip Knits yarn?

Posted by: Liz at July 24, 2005 06:46 PM

I love Kiri. I'm very drawn to leaf motif lace, so Kiri in green is just perfect!

Silk ... that's luxurious fiber! What are you going to do with it?
How many balls of the dk cotton did you use to finish Kiri? How does your finished Kiri measure? Just curious to know. ;)

What a lovely post....both pictures are so pretty. I love the lime Kiri and can't wait to see what becomes of the Hip Knits silk. Enjoy the rest of your day. I love banana bread too (with chocolate chips in it).

Kiri is just beautiful in this colour. Any chance of knowing what you're planning to make with the silk yarn?...

It's grey here, too, and I just baked oatmeal cookies. :)

Your Kiri is very pretty. I hope you've got that colour in your garden too.

Anna: these are fabulous pictures. You have an eye for photography too. What kind of camera do you use? Stay safe.

The silk is even more beautiful than I expected it to be! Kiri is also totally gorgeous. Can't wait to see the silk all knitted up, hope you're getting on OK with it..

Your kiri is gorgeous and mmmmm, silk. I can't wait to see what you knit out of it.

Love your Kiri, reminds me that it has been sitting on my to-knit-list for too long! Those silk are gorgeous, I've been itching of getting some for myself, hopefully next week ;)
And you're making me hungry just thinking of the smell of banana bread!

Your Kiri is truly beautiful. I've enjoyed seeing the ones in Kidsilk Haze, but this one has more substance that really showcases the pattern.

Your knitting reminds me of a beautiful garden.

I cruised by from Alison's blog to see your socks (which will be lovely) when this beautiful Kiri caught my eye! I just finished a Kiri in cotton too! I just love the definition of the leaves in the cotton! Your color is so beautiful, I wish I could wear green!

Claude is brilliant too!

Oh, I love that green for a Kiri shawl! I've been thinking of making this shawl in Fall colors. The green that you picked makes me think of Spring!
