Comment spam

Due to a barrage of comment spam, commenters will now have to be approved by me before they appear on the site. As far as I can tell I only have to do this once - so if I approve you, you'll then be able to post about viagra and casinos to your heart's content. Hopefully this can be a temporary measure until I find another solution. Sorry about that.

Comments

Amelia ~ I close out all my past entries, save for the last few days. I no longer have a problem with comment spam. Limiting the amount of open entries you have really does foil those spam robots and you won't have to waste time approving comments. Just a suggestion! (Plus, no one comments on the old entries anyway, unless they're up to no good.)

You think these people would find something else to amuse them. I have had a couple myself, but not sure what to do about it!

Yuk. How tedious. Will you approve me?!

Posted by: Noo at August 4, 2005 01:11 PM

Yes, this is quite annoying. I understand.

oh, that stinks. i don't know why spammers waste their time thinking that anyone even reads their junk mail.

I have to do the same thing with my blog. Why do they think that form of advertising works??!!

I'm lucky, no spam yet. *yet* But when I was in school, I couldn't even use my uni e-mail, because I would get seriously 100-200 spam messages a day (they obviously sold our names). It was horrible!

Oh goodness - I didn't even know that was possible - what a nuisance. Hope it doesn't take you too long to approve all your advid readers !

This is such a shame! Hope you'll solve the problem soon. Have a nice day.

yuck, damn spammers. perhaps you can consult lauren from lollygirl.com in regards to spam management. she now has it set-up where everytime someone comments, they have to punch in a code shown on the comments page to discourage spammers.

oh please approve me!

Posted by: uglyagnes at August 5, 2005 12:52 PM

You know that I LOVE to comment on your posts, right?? Promise that I'll never mention anything about viagras or casinos. :D

Hey Anna - you might also try installing "MT Blacklist" - I use it and never get spam comments now, and I used to get them ALL the TIME. It really works!

Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. I love your Claude jacket, and look forward to the pattern. I shall never post about casinos, since I've had my fill, thanks, and the less said on Viagra the better.

Hi, Not sure I'll be a regular commenter, and I know this is off topic for this post, but I had a suggestion for the bleeding dye problem. There's a detergent called synthrapol that is specifically designed to help keep any dye that does bleed off the fiber suspended in the water. The problem isn't bleeding so much as the dye re-settling on your fabric. Hope it helps.
