Tig

I've done quite a bit on Tiggy, the below stairs jacket I introduced you to a fortnight ago. I like the way the gathered pockets give a little kick from the hip. Today I went shopping at VV Rouleaux and The Button Queen for grossgrain ribbon trim and (surprise!) buttons for Tiggy, all in a clear pale blue.

Tell me what you think about sleeves: how about, three-quarter-length or slightly longer, quite wide, maybe with a deep cuff? Do you have strong feelings?

The pocket is so cute! Your idea for the sleeves sounds great. The cuff, especially. I can't wait to see the finished product.

I think the sleeves sound good too. I can't wait to see it, it looks beautiful already!

I think the design looks lovely. I might be in favor of a longer sleeve given the length of the sweater which looks as if it might hit below the hip (?). I also think a cuff would be very fitting. Can't wait to see the finished product.

This is looking lovely! Really loving the gathered pockets. My vote is almost always for 3/4 length sleeves and wide ones sound divine! I am first in line for this pattern!

By the bye, I have seen crochet covered button tutorial in 1960s era Vogue Knitting magazines.

Gorgeous as always! I cast a vote for 3/4 or a little longer sleeve. Wide. And a cuff. Oh so feminine and sweet!
Interweave's Crochet 2005 also had a crochet button.

Very wide, I say. I cannot wait to see it!

I think a sleeve that ends just before the wrist would be perfect. A glimpse of the slim wrist would add just the right amount of femininity, but would also be long enough to balance the length of the body. A cuff definitely and something that is slightly "belled" or gathered, to match the gathering on the pockets. Maybe just a slight tuck on the inner wrist side.

Wide, bracelet-length sleeves? With a large cuff and longer sleeves, I'd be knocking things over all the time, but too-short or too-narrow wouldn't "balance" the sweater.

And yes, I love the gathers on the pockets, too.

I like the idea of quite narrow sleeves slightly flared towards the cuff, for what it's worth. If the flare at the cuff could somehow relate to the gathered pockets that would be lovely.

I think the cuff sleeve is fitting with the era BUT I always favour 3/4 - just because I'm the sort that drags the sleeve through the pasta sauce reaching for the salt...

I favor 3/4 length sleeves, and fairlyh wide I think with the shape of the body.... it is looking great!

I can't wait for the grand unveiling! I tend to favor 3/4 length sleeves and I think some fullness to the sleeve will look great.

I agree with Genny & Deb--with a wide sleeve, bracelet or 3/4 length will not only look lovely, but be much more practical (fitting for "below stairs!) than full length. I wonder if a turn-back cuff would be nice, or too heavy.

Love the pocket.

The sweater posted on your blog entry of February 4th is lovely. Will you have a pattern for sale?

I love the gathering on the pockets. Re the sleeves - being a below stair kind of style a big billowy sleeve would be out of place although I think it would look good. 3/4 length is probably the way to go, again thinking back to your original inspiration.

I don't think I've commented before, but your blog is a favorite of mine. Just stopping by to say congrats on the Knit1 profile! I tend to deride that magazine as one big ad for a sub-par yarn company but this issue was really well researched, and full of interested news.

wow anna, not only you're a fabulous designer, you knit so lightning fast, too!! can't wait to see this design and the earlier one.

How about a simple, bracelet length sleeve, so as not to distract from the hem detail (or add width in the hem area...ahem!!)
